Instead make use of the ArrayView STL compatibility. To avoid breaking
almost all existing code the Corrade/Containers/ArrayViewStl.h header is
included implicitly when MAGNUM_BUILD_DEPRECATED is defined, but this
will get removed in some future release to speed up the compilation.
This allows us to get rid of the StaticArrayView, which is the last
roadblock on the way to a single-header math. The planes() are now
deprecated, along with the include, and will get removed in a future
release.
Pros:
* faster compile times (#include <tuple> is 13k lines, ugh)
* ability to have NoInit and ZeroInit constructors
* ability to do fuzzy compare
* named members, so we don't have to use mutable std::tie()
Cons:
* ... none?
The old Color[34]::Hsv is still a tuple and the new ColorHsv is
convertible to/from it (and even std::tie() works). These are all
deprecated (along with the <tuple> include).
Deprecated for 2018.04, it's been almost a year since. Whoever is using
Magnum regularly updated already, and who not can always upgrade
gradually (2018.02, 2018.04, 2018.10, 2019.01 etc.).
Basically mirroring the API of Trade::AbstractImporter, as that proved
to be useful. The old crazy openSingleData() and openData(horribleStuff)
are deprecated and will be removed in a future release.
No backwards compatibility is provided for font plugins, these need to
be adapted.
It'll get used outside of the root namespace and since the callbacks tend
to be quite complex, it would be silly to require users to implement one
callback for Trade, one for Text and one for Audio, for example.
What's left is *a lot* of places taking monstrous
std::vector<std::reference_wrapper> and that can't be changed to
std::vector<Containers::Reference> in a source-compatible way. Even that
would be only a temporary change, since the goal is to fully avoid
dependency on STL in those cases.
The final version of these APIs should take
Containers::ArrayView<Containers::Reference> and be implicitly
convertible froom e.g. std::vector<Containers::Reference>. That's
definitely possible, but not in time for 2019.01, so instead of forcing
users to temporary pass a `{vec.begin(), vec.size()}` everywhere instead
of just `vec`, I'm rather keeping these APIs intact.
Since Range1D is now used all over Animation, the vector made it very
annoying to use. That's fixed now. This is a backwards-incompatible
change, but I don't expect the 1D range to be used much, mainly because
it was so shitty to use. Generic code that needs a vector can always
cast to it, like this:
Math::Vector<dimensions, T>{range.min()}
Test for the constructor from pair is no longer accepting pairs of 1D
vectors. I have no idea what I meant by that test case (it's testing the
same thing twice), so I removed one of these.
It was passed by value everywhere else, but not here. Weird. This is a
breaking change, you need to update all your callbacks from e.g.
[](const Float&, const Vector2&, T&) { ... }
to
[](Float, const Vector2&, T&) { ... }
Fortunately I caught this soon enough before the release, this would be
annoying to change later.
This is in line with how the other APIs are named (for example
ObjectDataXD have instance type and instance). This would be very hard
to change later without breaking backwards compatibility, so I'm doing
it now, until the animation APIs get widely used.
With HiDPI support it's no longer just about window size changing -- if
the framebuffer size is different than window size, on resize both are
changed to new (different) values. Other than that, for example, when
moving a window from one display to another with a different DPI,
all three of window size, framebuffer size and DPI scaling can change as
well. This should be all reflected in the event.
This change is done in all Application classes, but the full
implementation is only in the SDL2 implementation at the moment, as the
others don't have full HiDPI support implemented yet. The old
viewportEvent(const Vector2i&) is deprecated and for backwards
compatibility called with either framebufferSize() or windowSize()
(depending on level of HiDPI support) from the new event. Overriding the
old one will still work as expected (in case you build with
MAGNUM_BUILD_DEPRECATED enabled and use the `override` keyword -- which
you should); overriding the new one will cause the compat implementation
to not be called anymore.
In order to make it possible to preserve backwards compatibility, the
viewportEvent() is no longer pure virtual in Screen. That's also
consistent with all Application implementations.
The original implementation had a few problems:
- If a file callback was set, openFile() was unconditionally calling
right into doOpenData(), making it impossible for the importer to
know the original path for correctly supplying paths to additional
files. Now, if the importer supports Feature::FileCallback,
doOpenFile() is always called. It's also possible for the importer to
save the path and then just delegate to the base doOpenFile()
implementation -- it will handle the file callbacks correctly too.
- If the importer supported neither FileCallback nor OpenData and
callbacks were set, the original doOpenFile() implementation was
called without any warning or anything, doing silently a bad thing.
Now in this case setFileCallbacks() asserts -- programmer has to
check for feature support first.
- It was not possible for the file callback to indicate file opening
failure -- in general, empty files are valid, so a nullptr ArrayView
is also a valid file. Now the callback return an Optional instead.
