Originally I thought I'd save plugins some time if I just give them the
custom indices directly, without being wrapped in a SceneField /
MeshAttribute enum. But in practice that didn't really save anything,
made the interfaces more error-prone due to there being no concrete type
anymore, and all code that delegates to nested importers or converters
had to re-wrap the IDs again, which is *again* error-prone.
Bumping the interface strings because this is a breaking change for the
implementations. Not for users tho, there nothing changes.
So people new to the plugin stuff can quickly get to usage introduction
and code snippets. The plugins alone don't list anything like that and
it may be *very* confusing otherwise.
It's four pointers, twice as much as what would be acceptable. Not sure
why this happened, maybe because all those cases used an ArrayView
before and so I just changed the type without considering the difference
in its size?
Unfortunately this change also means a bump in the plugin interface
string, thus all scene converter plugins have to be updated as well.
Wasn't really possible to split this into multiple commits, so here's
the whole thing including delegation from and to the single-mesh APIs.
What's not done here and postponed for later is:
- an ability to feed the whole importer to it, filtering away data that
aren't supported by the converter
- corresponding changes in AbstractImageConverter, where it would now
primarily accept ImageData to future-proof for arbitrary extra
key/value data
When for example only CMAKE_RUNTIME_OUTPUT_DIRECTORY is set, but not the
others, the original code skipped overriding the locations altogether.
This is a valid use case, as e.g. ARCHIVE and LIBRARY_OUTPUT_DIRECTORY
tend to mess with the way Visual Studio produces and consumes *.lib
files.
Furthermore, this now also handles CMAKE_*_OUTPUT_DIRECTORY_<CONFIG> in
a similar way, which is what Conan uses for example.

Wow, this is probably the most backwards-compatibility code I've ever
written. Can't wait until I can drop all that.
Consistently with changes done to Utility::Path, this enforces proper
error handling on user side. Originally I didn't want to do this and
instead wanted to have a special Array instance devoted for an error
state, but that still would allow the error state be errorneously
treated as a successful but empty array.
Somehow. Heh. This causes a non-deprecated build on MSVC to break due to
a similar reason as in 54394e2c2f. And,
similarly to 3717043ae2, *again*
discovered while building bindings.
It limits the support for CMake 3.12+, but it's much less verbose and I
don't expect people to use ancient CMake versions with IDEs like Xcode
or VS anyway, so this should be fine.
Since the plugin implementations rely on the base plugin interfaces for
file handling, this affected only the tests. Also took this as an
opportunity to use the new TestSuite::Compare::StringHasPrefix etc. in
various places.
These checks covered the case when the magnum-plugins repository wasn't
installed, but didn't cover the case when it was installed but the
plugins were built against an outdated interface, had ABI issues, or
didn't load at all for various other reasons.
Minor but very important convenience feature, especially useful when
dealing with command-line apps. This now works:
magnum-imageconverter a.png a.jpg -c jpegQuality=0.75
The AnyImageConverter gets the jpegQuality option and then
automatically propagates it to the concrete plugin (which is either
JpegImageConverter or StbImageConverter), possibly warning in case the
target plugin doesn't recognize given option (i.e., doesn't list it in
its default configuration). Previously the user had to always specify a
concrete converter implementation using -C, which was rather annoying
and nonintuitive.
It should be input first, output second, like with all other APIs. I
remember I was trying something else here, but that didn't really make
sense in the end. Also took that opportunity to get rid of one
std::string.
The original signature is a deprecated alias to the new one and will be
removed in a future release.
It doesn't really work for tests that depend on more than one plugin
(because there i would need to handle all combinations, somehow), but it
does the job when the end user has such use case.
