And use static functions with an explicit "self" pointer instead. Those
have half the size (8 vs 16 bytes on 64bit x86), which in turn reduces
the state tracker memory use by about 750 bytes. On desktop GL with an
Intel GPU & Mesa this reduces the state tracker allocation size by almot
10%, from 8.3 kB to 7.6 kB. Not bad.
Apart from small memory savings, this also removes the need to include
the full class definiton from the State headers on MSVC (because
on that compiler the member function pointer size is different based on
whether the type definition is known or not, IMAGINE THAT BEING A
FEATURE AND NOT A BUG), leading to less header dependencies and better
incremental compile times there.
This was already done in some cases (and the Vk library used this from
the beginning), and as I'm about to add some more extension-dependent
functionality it felt like a good time to finish that change, finally.
In some cases the *Implementation() could even be dropped in favor of
pointing to the GL API directly (such as is already done for various
glUniform*() calls), that'd be another step -- this is good enough for
now.
Same as in the previous commit, most cases are inputs so a StringStl.h
compatibility include will do, the only breaking change is
GL::Shader::sources() which now returns a StringIterable instead of a
std::vector<std::string> (ew).
Awesome about this whole thing is that The Shader API now allows
creating a shader from sources coming either from string view literals
or Utility::Resource completely without having to allocate any strings
internally, because all those can be just non-owning references wrapped
with String::nullTerminatedGlobalView(). The only parts which aren't
references are the #line markers, but (especially on 64bit) those can
easily fit into the 22-byte (or 10-byte on 32bit) SSO storage.
Also, various Shader constructors and assignment operators had to be
deinlined in order to avoid having to include the String header, which
would be needed for Array destruction during a move.

There are no SSO / DSA extensions on that platform, so it doesn't make
sense to do this extra indirection. Saves another kilobyte (237 -> 236
kB) in WebGL 2 magnum-gl-info.wasm.
Instead of wrapping glProgramUniform*() inside a member function, we now
call that function directly, which allows us to remove 2/3rds of
AbstractShaderProgram members. The non-DSA code path is still
implemented though member functions, though they are now static,
mimic the signature of the DSA APIs and do a use() + glUniform*()
internally.
Ew. At first I tried to just port a growable Array of StringViews (which
would already save quite a lot), but then I realized I have a clear
upper bound on the extensions and so can use a "counting sort" without
having to deduplicate anything after.
After the previous (rather minimal) reduction by the Context cleanup,
this reduces the size of magnum-gl-info.wasm from 245 to 237 kB. Quite
significant, I'd say!
This was done silently until now and I think such platform-specific code
should be always exposed as a disableable workaround. Moreover, I need a
similar thing for ANGLE, so this comes handy.
At the moment just the GL library itself w/o the tests, and without
backwards compatibility aliases. The following types were left in the
root namespace, despite being in the GL/ directory, as they will get
moved back soon:
* Image, CompressedImage and their dimensional typedefs
* ImageView, CompressedImageView and their dimensional typedefs
* PixelStorage
Not PixelFormat etc., that one will stay in the GL namespace and a
completely new PixelFormat enum will be provided in the root namespace.
Minimal updates (just the include guards) so Git is hopefully able to
detect the rename and track the history properly.
Everything except Magnum::GL doesn't compile now.
On Windows NVidia drivers the glTransformFeedbackVaryings() does not
make a copy of its char* arguments so it fails at link time when the
original char arrays are not in scope anymore. Enabling *synchronous*
debug output circumvents this bug. Can be triggered by running
TransformFeedbackGLTest with GL_KHR_debug extension disabled.
I can't believe that you can just forget to include some file and it
will SILENTLY PASS and then crashes horribly at runtime because each
translation unit thought that given member function pointer had
completely different size. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.
The only places where they aren't absolute are:
- when header is included from corresponding source file
- when including headers which are not part of final installation (e.g.
test-specific configuration, headers from Implementation/)
Everything what was in src/ is now in src/Corrade, everything from
src/Plugins is now in src/MagnumPlugins, everything from external/ is in
src/MagnumExternal. Added new CMakeLists.txt file and updated the other
ones for the moves, no other change was made. If MAGNUM_BUILD_DEPRECATED
is set, everything compiles and installs like previously except for the
plugins, which are now in MagnumPlugins and not in Magnum/Plugins.
Renamed AbstractShaderProgram::maxSupportedVertexAttributeCount() to
maxVertexAttributes(), the old function is now an alias to retain
source compatibility, will be removed in future release.
Also printing the values in magnum-info.
* The light didn't catch camera transformation changes, so it was
returning wrong position for most of the time.
* The multiplication was in wrong order, it should be multiplied with
camera matrix from the left.
I need to find an solution for this, because now it is one redundant
matrix*vector multiplication per object per frame again.
This reverts commit 0443bbe286.
Conflicts:
src/Light.cpp
src/Test/LightTest.cpp
Object::setClean() now computes absolute transformation while traversing
through object parents and passes it as parameter to clean(), which is
now virtual a meant to be reimplemented instead of setClean().
Updated and greatly improved unit test.
Saves one matrix*vector multiplication per object per frame. The
position can be now Vector3 like before, because it won't be multiplied
with anything on draw call. Added unit test.
Removed functions at(), set() and add(), everything (and more) can be
now done using operator[]. Accessing matrix elements is now done through
column vectors, e.g.:
Matrix4 a;
a.at(row, col); // before
a[col][row]; // now
Note that because operator[] on Matrix returns column vector (there is
nothing like row vector), the parameter "order" is now swapped.
