I thought I went over all these several years ago already, but
apparently not or maybe back then not all websites were HTTPS-ready. Now
they mostly are, except for maybe one or two.
I'm going to make a new Renderer class that's unlike the old one, and
isn't templated anymore either, so gotta make room for it first. I assume
that all existing code used the Renderer2D / Renderer3D typedefs so this
should be pretty much painless.
Ultimately this class will be gone, with only (then deprecated)
AbstractRenderer left, and Renderer2D / Renderer3D being aliases to it
-- internally it doesn't actually do anything dfferent, even the
positions are two-component in both cases.
In short this means the users no longer need to care about FindSDL2 etc.,
it'll just get done automatically. They don't need to drag along
FindMagnum / FindCorrade anymore either, but having them gives a much
more reasonable error message if the library cannot be located at all, so
I still recommend having them.
Like with TextureTools::DistanceField, to make room for non-GL
implementations. Old names are deprecated aliases, same for headers. The
only remaining bit in the Text library is the Renderer class, but for
that one I first need to invent a non-shitty API so I can just deprecate
the old thing as a whole and create something reasonable from scratch in
RendererGL.
To allow people to cherry-pick just a subset of them if other code
defines literals that may conflict. I first did that the same way as
STL (so both namespaces inline), only to subsequently discover the
horror that all literals are implicitly available in the enclosing
Math namespace, thus preventing no conflicts at all. So the Literals
namespace isn't getting inline, only the inner ones.
This is also in preparation for introduction of
Literals::ConstexprColorLiterals that would provide a constexpr variant
of the _srgbf literals at the expense of having a large LUT in a header
file.
The whole class was a bad idea, why create something that's 99% similar
to another application and has just one platform-specific workaround? Of
course it resulted in this code being completely untested and not even
built anywhere, because it served a tiny insignificant use case.
To avoid losing all the code, I did my best in attempting to merge this
into the WindowlessEglApplication. But since, again, EGL isn't
really used on any Windows platform, I can't even say it builds
properly. Maybe not even the original code built.
Because it somewhat confusingly may have implied that it's really
composed of 8-bit bools, and not bits. The same reasoning was used to
pick the name for Corrade's Containers::BitArray.
Backwards compatibility aliases are in place as usual, however the
internal BoolVectorConverter is now BitVectorConverter and there
unfortunately cannot be any backwards compatibility. This breaks only
GLM and Eigen integration in the magnum-integration repo, which I'm
fixing immediately. I don't expect any user code to use this internal
helper. For regular vectors maybe, for this one definitely not.
For consistency with how VertexFormat and other enum helpers are named.
The compressedBlockSize() and compressedBlockDataSize() is also renamed
to compressedPixelFormatBlockSize() and
compressedPixelFormatBlockDataSize().
While backwards compatibility aliases are in place, a breaking change
is that Image classes now look for pixelFormatSize() instead of
pixelSize(). This is used e.g. when passing GL::PixelFormat /
GL::PixelType to the image classes, instead of the generic PixelFormat.
While useful, it's unlikely that any project was defining their own
pixel format enum and pixelSize() for a D3D or Metal renderer or
whatnot, so the breakage should have no practical impact.
The combineIndexArrays() and combineIndexedArrays() API is replaced with
a more generic combineIndexedAttributes(), and thanks to that we also
don't need STL-based duplicate() and removeDuplicates().
The Platform::*Application::Configuration class was split into
Configuration and GLConfiguration, the latter containing only
GL-specific configuration. Moreover, createContext() and
tryCreateContext() were renamed to create() / tryCreate().
There's now a constructor and a create() / tryCreate() overload taking
GLConfiguration and this will be later extended with VkConfiguration,
for example. GL-specific getters/setters from Configuration are now
marked as deprecated and merged into GLConfiguration during context
creation.
Everything has still hard dependency on GL, that will be done in the
next commits.
